RSS Awareness Day – Are You Using RSS Feeds Yet?

May 1, 2008 - Written by Gyutae Park

Daniel Scocco of Daily Blog Tips had a great idea and decided to coin May 1st as the official RSS Awareness Day. Not only is this effective link bait (heck I’m linking to his site here aren’t I?) but it promotes a good cause as well.

RSS Awareness Day

For those of you that don’t know, RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is a format used to deliver updated content from websites via feeds. The main benefit of RSS is that it enables people to stay connected with their favorite websites without having to visit them. All they have to do is subscribe to the feeds using a feed reader like Google Reader. Updated posts and articles are then delivered in real time. It’s actually a very powerful tool that benefits everyone involved – marketers, bloggers, site owners, and end users.

Are you using RSS? I suggest you subscribe to the Winning the Web RSS feed and get started. :)

Haha, yeah I thought I switch things around and promote RSS day. What RSS do you use for your blogs?

RSS for the win right?

Entrecard posting 300 a day is hard but i figure if i can get people to drop me back a card

that gives me more ec and webmaster traffic and possibly a review.

Gyutae Park on May 3rd, 2008

I think you can make better use of your time than dropping 300 Entrecards everyday. I generally find that Entrecard doesn’t really bring high-quality traffic. Most people are there only to drop a card.

Thats a nice idea. RSS day.
RSS is a great technology.

Gyutae Park on May 3rd, 2008

It sure is. Both for bloggers and for people who read content online.

Funny I should stumble on this today; subscribing to RSSs for me is a quick way to find the blogs I like so I can comment, bookmark posts, etc. without having to spend hours googling content I am looking for.
P.S. I am subscribing to your blog today.

Gyutae Park on May 3rd, 2008

Thanks, I appreciate that. I use RSS everyday and I actually feel that I have too many feeds that I subscribe to. I’ll have to consolidate my list to cut down on reading time.

Gyutae Park on May 3rd, 2008

What is May 1 the day for? This was actually Daniel Scocco’s idea, not mine.
