Ranksense SEO Launch Contest Winners

November 3, 2008 - Written by Gyutae Park

After a full month of promoting the Ranksense SEO Launch Contest, it has finally come to a close. Hopefully you’ve all had a chance to try it out and optimize your sites for the search engines using the software.

seo contest

The contest was a big success, attracting new customers and affiliates to the Ranksense SEO software and new subscribers to the Winning the Web newsletter. There were 50+ people who actively participated by downloading the Ranksense trial and blogging about the product.

Without further adieu, here are the winners…

Affiliate Marketing Competition

After John Chow offered his readers a chance to win a free $500 review on his blog for trying the Ranksense SEO software, he quickly led the competition with 19 referrals in a single day. However, Daniel Scocco of Daily Blog Tips stole the win in the last week by writing a post on his popular blog and engaging in an efficient paid search campaign. Congrats Daniel! (and sorry John).

1st Place Winner: Daniel Scocco of Daily Blog Tips – 20 referrals
An all expense paid, 7-day trip for 2 to La Romana, Dominican Republic

2nd Place Winner: John Chow of John Chow dot com – 19 referrals
Panasonic Viera 50-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV

3rd Place Winner: Donna Fontenot of SEO Scoop (6 referrals)
PlayStation 3 80 GB Metal Gear Solid 4 Pack

Random Draw

There were over 2,000 entries into the random draw portion of the contest including existing newsletter subscribers. Basically what I did was enter all participants into a spreadsheet followed by the number of entries they had. The higher the number of entries, the higher the chances of winning. Using the random number generator, here are the 2 winners I came up with…

1st Place Winner: Brian Weaver of Prof Web Marketing
Apple MacBook Air 13.3 Inch Laptop – 1.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 GB RAM, 80 GB Hard Drive

2nd Place Winner: David Schloss of The Daily Dollar Report
Apple iPod touch 16 GB 2Gen

Congrats to all the winners! And thanks for taking part in another successful Winning the Web contest. :) Better luck next time for everyone else. ;)

Woot! I won the iPod Touch! What do I have to do in order to claim the prize?

Gyutae Park on November 5th, 2008

Congrats David! I contacted you via email for your shipping address. You should be receiving your prize from the Ranksense team shortly.

Wow!! Awesome! I really didn’t think I had a shot at this! Thanks Gyutae and RankSense!

Gyutae Park on November 5th, 2008

See, you just never know… Congrats Brian. I could use a Macbook Air myself. :) Thanks for participating.

Jay on November 4th, 2008

Does anyone want to sell their prizes? :P

If you don’t, well, congratulations! lol…

Jay

Gyutae Park on November 5th, 2008

Haha Jay, if you’re going to buy the prizes that defeats the whole point of winning doesn’t it? :P

I’m up in the air about selling mine. I have been wanting to try out a Mac for a while now and completely get away from windows garbage. On the other hand, I could use the money to further my affiliate marketing efforts, including promoting RankSense ;) I’m waiting on some other money, so hopefully I will have that by the time I get my Air :)

Gyutae Park on November 5th, 2008

I feel ya. Personally I like to buy cheaper computers and replace them more frequently. $1.5k for a laptop seems a bit much to me.

Thanks for hosting the contest Gyutae, really cool one.

Congrats for the other winners as well.

@Jay, depends on how badly you wanna go to a vacation in Dominican Republic :) .

Jay on November 5th, 2008

Lol… you should’ve won the TV or PS3 and then I’d really consider it. :D

Congratulations to David and Brian on winning the random draw!

I can’t believe that the third place winner for the referral contest had just 6 referrals. If there was a leaderboard somewhere I would have competed and surely gotten at least this many referrals in one day! :D

Gyutae Park on November 5th, 2008

Well the affiliate competition was for referrals in ONE day. So the third place winner might have had a lot more referrals, but the most she had in a single day was 6. There was an affiliate leader board that was distributed to the Ranksense affiliates via email. You should have signed up! Maybe next time.. :P

Hamlet, will you be running another contest in the near future? I didn’t get a chance, time wise, to enter this time.
Congrat’s to all the winners. :)

Gyutae Park on November 5th, 2008

Hey Stuart,
If you’ve been around Winning the Web long enough, you know that I frequently run big contests with crazy prizes. Another one should be coming soon so keep your eyes open for it.

SEO Stuart on November 6th, 2008 Subscribed to comments via email

Oh crap, I should’ve read this contest more clearly. I didn’t know the referrals could just download the trial. I would’ve been all over this since I’ve done referral stuff in the past :D

Gyutae Park on November 6th, 2008

Yep, trial downloads counted as referrals. Hamlet from Ranksense believes in his product so he has no doubt that a good number of people who try it will buy it.

Congrats to all the winners, and Brian really got an awesome prize.

Brian Weaver on November 6th, 2008 Subscribed to comments via email

Yep a great prize! Let’s see if I become a Mac convert now :) If I could have gotten Dreamweaver and Fireworks running better in Ubuntu, I’d already have ditched Micro$ucks Winblows ;-)

wisdom on November 8th, 2008

John Chow barely got beat out in this one. He still won a nice prize though.
