Do you have a posting schedule for your blog? Maki of DoshDosh wrote an excellent post detailing how an editorial calendar can increase readership. The concept is that by following a set schedule for your blog and creating anticipation, readers are more likely to visit expecting to see something new. Here at Winning the Web, I’ve decided to adopt this strategy and I encourage everyone to do the same. Below is the posting schedule for Winning the Web.
Monday
- Post
- Readers’ Poll
Tuesday

Wednesday

- Review
Thursday
Friday

- Video
Saturday

Sounds like a plan Gyutae! Posting schedules are indeed great to help the readers anticipate a certain post on a specific schedule. But there’s always that element of surprise that I think entices readers to keep coming back.
You’re right, surprises can be fun at times. But for actual content on a blog, I think they should be minimized. This way people will know when to come back for fresh content. However, I’m all for surprises through contests and special features.
Haha. Oh I have to agree on that one! You’ve been full of surprises lately with all the big buzz on your contests and giveaways. Keep it buddy!
Heh. Nope I don’t have one of those. I pretty much just wing it.
I need to put much MUCH more thought into what’s being published on my weblog. I’m starting to notice the trends and what types of posts are popular and which aren’t. So I’m attempting to cater to the popular posts.
Which would explain my most recent post:
Discover the secrets the Big Time Affiliate marketers don’t WANT you to know. The secrets to increasing CTRs and conversions.
Which is a follow up to my most popular entry. Anyhow, thanks for more inspiration to make everyone’s experience better.
I was considering posting 4-5 times a week, but now so many bloggers are posting 2+ times a day….maybe I’ll need to step up a bit.
I don’t have a posting schedule for my blog, but I definitely should. I need to first get into the habit of writing posts earlier and timestamping them. I think that would help me a lot.
I don’t think it is necessary posting twice a day. One time a day is enough, I believe.
Even 3-4 times a week is good for starters.
I like to have a shedule of what I post each week, but a daily shedule can be pretty strict, I know that I want to post my artwork of the day on saturday and that I want to post regularly each day. The more regular items you have in your blog the better the structure should be.
First of all you want your readers to know when you update a regular item that they are interested in and then you want to create your shedule according to what you are planning to do. It’s easier to organize your day when you know what lies ahead of you.
Your articles is a good reminder. Since I started my blog in November 2007, I have kept to my schedule of posting a minimum of an article every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday no matter how busy I am with my full time job with a bank.
I look forward to you next posting via your feed.

Ive read the dosh dosh editorial calendar post…consistency is not only good for readers, but it keeps an author on top of things also. I’m still in the process with experimenting with what works best. I’ve got 3 days out of the week planned so far.
What is WTW? *nvm Winning The Web?*
Anyway, can’t wait to see who wins.
I have my blog on a schedule, it helps to keep me organized and motivated.
