Motive Interactive Advent 2.0 Review – Just a Great Interface?

October 14, 2008 - Written by Gyutae Park

With new affiliate networks popping up left and right, there is fierce competition in the affiliate industry for networks to sign lucrative deals with advertisers and to attract the most experienced affiliate marketers. In fact, unless an affiliate network has a unique selling proposition, it will likely fail and be forgotten about.

The top CPA (cost-per-action) performance marketing networks are successful for a reason. For example, Market Leverage used extremely creative marketing tactics to connect with affiliates and bloggers, Pepperjam Network leveraged its already popular brand to launch a reputable affiliate network, and AzoogleAds established itself through first-mover advantage (i.e. they were one of the first in the industry). As you can see, an affiliate network needs to be different with unique features in order to rise up from the rest of the crowd.

What about Motive Interactive?

motive interactive adventSo does Motive Interactive offer anything special? Or is it another one of those cookie-cutter networks using the same old templates and offers? Well, I can tell you right now that Motive Interactive is in fact different. How? I’ll explain in a moment.

Just for some background information, Motive Interactive Advent is a performance-based affiliate network that has been around since 2003. I personally was not signed up with them until researching for this review, but now I am glad I did. They recently upgraded their system to Advent 2.0 and it comes with a lot of improvements.

Motive Interactive has by far one of the best interfaces of any affiliate network out there. They use a custom-built platform that uses Ajax technology to deliver content extremely quickly. Rather than having to navigate from page to page, everything loads on the same page – which significantly saves time. The interface is also very simple and easy to use. Below is a screen shot.

Offers on Motive Interactive

Now that we know that the interface is top notch, let’s take a look at the offers Motive Interactive features on its site. A good interface means nothing without quality offers after all…

They seem to have pretty much every standard category of offers, from dating and education to diet and loans. As for stuff I would promote here on Winning the Web, I don’t really see much I can work with. The Business category only has 9 offers, all of which I have never heard of. However, some of the more lucrative categories (like diet, freebies, and email submits) are filled with offers with good payouts. I suggest you sign up and see what they have to offer in your main categories. Motive even claims that if you find a higher payout, they’ll beat it. Now I feel like I’m at Wal-Mart. 😉

More Money at Motive

Not only does Motive provide its affiliates with some of the highest payouts, but they also have a rewards program that pays up to 2% on top of affiliate commissions. Here’s the official rewards chart once you get to making some serious moolah.

Another huge perk Motive Interactive offers is 5.5% referral commission, the highest in the industry (I believe Market Leverage offers 5%). As long as your referred publishers continue to generate revenue without lapses greater than 12 months, you’ll receive 5.5% of everything they make. So if you refer a super affiliate who generates $1,000,000 through Motive, you’ll receive $55,000+ just for putting in the good word. Not only that, but you’ll continue to receive commissions as long as that affiliate generates income for life. That’s serious stuff…

The Final Verdict

I still think Motive Interactive Advent is inexperienced in the affiliate marketing industry. They lag behind the established networks and have a lot to prove before they become one of the go-to platforms. They have one of the best, easy-to-use interfaces, but they’ll have complement that with great support, creative marketing, and top-notch offers and payouts to hit it big.

Motive Interactive definitely has potential and I recommend you check it out. The interface itself is worth a look.

Personally, I think affiliate marketing business is becoming saturated in the net. Probably, only those who already established their names in this line are the ones that will stay. Though it was just a thought.

Gyutae Park on October 14th, 2008

I agree that affiliate marketing networks are becoming extremely saturated online. There’s heavy competition in the space, and it’ll be very difficult for new players to break through. However, that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. There’s always room for improvement and the next remarkable company that comes along and changes the game will be rewarded handsomely.

I guess the proof that affiliate marketing is becoming saturated online shows that it indeed in a good way of making money. Some of the methods may have been outdated but there are always new possibilities to explore online!

Gyutae Park on October 15th, 2008

Well you’re right about that. The reason why there are so many affiliate networks is because it’s extremely profitable. You can even see some of the networks flaunting lush offices and sports cars.

Yeah I see lamborghinis and ferraris more often than real solid opportunities to make money online.. How sad.. Lotsa of relaxing by the beach pictures too!

One slight correction regarding the referral program statement…

“Another huge perk Motive Interactive offers is 5.5% referral commission, the highest in the industry (I believe Market Leverage offers 5%).”

RevResponse pays out 20% on the revenues your referred publishers generate for the first 6 months of their existence with RevResponse. For more info on our referral program, check out the link below:

Thanks for pointing that out Dave. RevResponse does have a very nice referral program as well – 20% is pretty amazing. The only difference is that RevResponse isn’t really a CPA network like the other ones mentioned. They mainly offer downloads and whitepapers of advertisers – which is pretty unique in itself. For those interested, here’s my review of RevResponse:

Hey Gyutae,

Thanks for the quick mention in the review. We continue to strive to do our best and help our affiliates make the most money possible! We appreciate any feedback you guys give us! Keep in mind guys, that the 5% we pay is on the publisher’s commissions, not our revenue…so it adds up quickly, keep referring!

Gyutae Park on October 15th, 2008

You’re definitely right about the 5% commissions adding up quickly… It’s like recruiting an army of affiliates to do the work for you.

Thanks Gyutae for the review !

While there are a lot of Affiliate Networks out there to chose from – some with great referral earnings and rewards program (like Motive) it is important to try different networks and test all the different offers in each network you don’t want to put all your eggs in one basket as an affiliate – and they same can be true when publishers refer affiliates – why not send them to a few networks so you can take the different referral payouts and bonuses from each network.

What makes Motive different is that we built our own Advent 2.0 technology with the publisher in mind from the bottom up. Since we are always working on improving it we can offer many things other networks do not.

Like ML_Mike was saying – publisher referral earnings “so it adds up quickly, keep referring!” (to Motive of course 🙂 !!

Gyutae Park on October 15th, 2008

Each affiliate network offers something different, so it’d be smart to at least try them all out and see which offer the best in terms of offers, payouts, and features. So far, I like Motive… There are some kinks to work out but it does have potential as a platform. Thanks for letting me know about it, Luke.

wisdom on October 15th, 2008

That is a large percentage for affiliate commissions. I guess they were trying to take it a step further past other networks by offering 5.5%.

Gyutae Park on October 17th, 2008

If you think about it, the extra .5% means a pretty big boost especially if the affiliates your refer do a lot of volume. Hopefully, other networks up the ante as well. 🙂

You are totally right about the 5% commissions adding up quickly…

Thanks for the comments. I do agree, the Affiliate Marketing industry is saturated, cloned companies pop up daily at an astonishing rate, this will end. There will still be room for companies to enter this space as long as the have a clear value added service and proprietary technology. The 100’s of “cloned” affiliate networks running direct track, with nothing unique, offering unrealistic price increase only to shave leads from the affiliates in the end will disappear.

brendan Smith on November 14th, 2008 Subscribed to comments via email

Just wanted to drop a line in here and say thank you for a great review! Motive is excited and looking forward to working with all of you! We are now out of beta and have officially launched the new Motive CPA Network powered by our advent 2.0.

Does it allow incentive?

brendan Smith on January 9th, 2009 Subscribed to comments via email

we do not normally allow incentive traffic, in the past if the advertiser allowed it we would set it up, but most cases the quality is just way to low for us. However, you should give us a call set up a time to go over what you are doing and maybe there is some kind of fit.

Cool thanks for your prompt response. I will go signup and give it a try. Actually we have both incentive and none-incentive traffic. I will contact you on site if i have other questions. Thanks.
