I have two takes on it. One, if you’re able to make a list, then you’ve made a list, no matter whether it’s a publicity list or a true and researched list. I’d rather be on the list, period.

Two, I think I’ve shocked myself that out of the top 10 I only know two of those names, because I thought I knew a bunch of folks at this point. I was surprised to see John Reese in the top 50 after the crash of BlogRush, and surprised, sort of, to see Arianna Huffington in the top 15, as she’s not really an internet marketer, though her blog is so popular and influential that she’s probably making serious bank.

Three names I was really stunned NOT to see on the list were Lynn Terry, Willie Crawford, and Derek Gehl; those missing names make me wonder,…

Pretty much all of it. He doesn’t spend too much money on advertising other than a few hundred on Adwords and he gets his hosting free from a sponsor. Pretty good deal.

Yep, these guys make plenty of money online – and there’s a lot more to be made. But lists like these aren’t an indication of how much they’re making. It’s more a matter of personal branding.

I’d like to make this list one day, maybe for 2009.

Anyway, just to see lists like this make you realise how much money there is to be made on the Internet and that there is room for plenty more people to make a lot of coin.
