WTW Advertising on John Chow & Cow

December 12, 2007 - Written by Gyutae Park

In order to spread the word about Winning the Web’s most recent contest for a free $400 John Chow review and a $200 John Cow review, I’ve created a few 125×125 graphic ads that you may have seen displayed on other sites.

John Chow and John Cow

The theme of the ad is a mix between the default ReviewMe badge and the John Chow & Cow rivalry. Both Johns were gracious enough to let me use their faces in the ads. The customization greatly improves click through rate and make the ads look much more interesting. Wouldn’t you agree?

The customization definitely makes the ad look more interesting. I like it! (:

I wonder why you put “Moo too”, instead of “Me too” ?

jblu on December 13th, 2007

Yes, I’m wondering the same thing about the ‘moo too’. ;)

I agree. Custom graphics are so much better. Of course, I am definitely biased.

I think your way of using this reviewme campain is just outstanding in it’s whole way. Massive traffic, great and catchy commericals for people who visit BOTH blogs and a great prize. This must have been a massive overall boost for your blog.

Are you generating a lot of traffic?

@Artur Kim
Thanks! The goal was definitely to make it interesting and have the user want to find out more.

@dicky
Mooooo. John COW.

@jblu
moo too?

@ImageGag
Haha, yes you are biased. I like the images you have on ImageGag. Some of them are pretty funny. Did you create them yourself?

@pandora-eye
Thanks. Simplicity is a beautiful thing, hm.

@sven
Yes, it’s been a HUGE boost. Almost overwhelming actually, but I can’t complain. I’ll write a detailed post once the contest is over.

@Josh
Yes, traffic has increased tenfold. Pretty good results but let’s see if it can be sustained.

Haha. I loved the design of your ads the first time I saw it Gyutae. I’m really glad this campaign has been working wonders for your blog. Hehe. I’m pretty much excited on the results! :D

@Guytae. Yes, I make them. I’ve always loved funny photoshopped pictures and I’ve finally gotten around to figuring out how to make them.

Awesome contest you just did by the way. Looking forward to seeing your numbers when you post them.

Very cool. I have found that making your own ad graphics is better when promoting a product that many others are promoting. Makes it easier to stand out from putting in a little extra effort.

Well done.

Michael
