I like to send real cards instead of emails on the special occasions. I was promoting Send Out Cards for a while. Now I just use the service, I have a ton of credits.

Gyutae,

Great idea. Question though...what if you don't have their name, and they just use their company name in their comments? I've found a few people like that and even after searching their sites, I don't find their name. Would it be best not to email those select few?

Another great tip Gyutae! The more personalized, the better. Just be sure to get the names right. Haha. :D

This is exactly why I remembered to participate in your Tyler Cruz blog-off.

Who knows, if it comes down to one vote, that one email just saved you $300.

Indeed, too many emails are always annoying and even one email can backfire it is clear that you have written it in order to promote your website or another product rather than just to be thoughtful.

@Jason
Exactly. You would only use this tactic for people you know through your blog.

@Sly
The little things can go a long way in forming relationships with other people.

@David Chew
More visitors is always going to be a goal for a blog. Good luck with the reviews.

@Hafiz
Thanks, I hope it helped.

@Martin Reed
Great post. Christmas is a festive time and will definitely be easier to form and strengthen relationships.

@Alan Johnson
Everything works well when done in moderation. Too many emails can get annoying and will most likely work against you.

It is definitely an effective as well as considerate marketing approach but it can most certainly backfire if you go over-board.

It's a good tactic and one I wrote about just before Christmas on my blog in an article entitled '<a href="http://www.communityspark.com/use-christmas-to-strengthen-relationships/" rel="nofollow">Use Christmas to strengthen relationships</a>'.
