asummit.jpgIt looks like I’ll be attending Affiliate Summit 2008 West in Las Vegas next month. Thanks to the contest held by Ian Lee of ADS-Links.com, I’ve won a free full conference pass worth $1,500. Thanks Ian! I’m very excited to be attending my very first Internet marketing conference. It should be a great opportunity to learn new affiliate marketing tips, network with some of the industry greats, and have some fun in Las Vegas. Of course, I’ll be doing some live blogging at the conference sharing some of the key learnings from the sessions and updating all of you on the latest happenings at the event. Make sure you check into Winning the Web during the conference. Anyone else plan on going to Affiliate Summit? I’d love to meet all of you there.

Below is a schedule of all of the sessions I plan on attending. For a full agenda of the conference, visit the official site of Affiliate Summit.

Opening Keynote

  • Speakers: Jim Kukral, Owner of ScratchBack.com & Jason Calacanis, Founder of Mahalo.com
  • Two top Internet pioneers that I’ve always read about in the news and in big blogs. I’m excited to see them in person and see what they have to say. It doesn’t get better than this.

Video Innovation in Affiliate Marketing

  • Speakers: Melissa Salas - Director of Marketing at Buy.com, Tim Carter - Founder of AskTheBuilder.com, Joel Comm - President of InfoMedia, Brian McCarthy - SVP Business Development at Revver, Steve Rosenbaum - CEO of Magnify.net, Gary Vaynerchuk - Host at Wine Library TV
  • I was actually debating whether to go to this video session or another one entitled “Affiliate PPC: Brand Enhancement or Bid Escalation”. Both are topics I am not experienced in and want to learn more about. However, I decided to go with video innovation because I think videos are the wave of the future. Wouldn’t you want to see some videos here on Winning the Web?

How to Futureproof Your SEO Efforts

  • Speakers: Wil Reynolds - Associate at SEER Interactive
  • Being an SEO, it’s almost required for me to attend this session. Hopefully it’ll be a good one with interesting strategies brought up in developing a long-lasting SEO plan.

Moniker’s Live Domain Auction

  • Ok well I do own over 75 domain names in my portfolio, but I simply do not have the cash to compete in this live auction. If anything, I want to attend just to see how it all works, find out which domains sell for how much, and enjoy the competitive atmosphere. Maybe next year it’ll be me yelling out those tens of thousands of dollars. :)

Ask the Experts

  • I’m not familiar with any of the speakers for this session but they are comprised of CEO’s, vice presidents, and affiliate marketing managers at top companies. It’ll be interesting to see what they have to say and what I can learn from them. Affiliate marketing is something I definitely want to get more into in the coming year. Any specific questions you’d like me to ask the experts?

Super Affiliate Strategies that Work

  • Speakers: Kristopher Jones - President & CEO of Pepperjam, John Chow - CEO of TTZ Media, Zac Johnson - President of MoneyReign, Amit Mehta - Founder of SuperAffiliateMindset.com
  • How can I miss this all-star lineup of Kris Jones, John Chow, and Zac Johnson? I’m looking forward to this session the most. And a chance to finally meet John Chow.

Social Media Strategies in Affiliate Marketing

  • Speakers: Sam Harrelson - VP of Business Development at OnCard Marketing, Stephanie Agresta - Partner at The Conversation Group, Chris Brogan - Vice President Strategy & Technology at CrossTechMedia, Tris Hussey - Training Manager at b5media, Deb Schultz - Founder & Chief Strategist at MMI International
  • Social media is definitely going to have an even greater impact on the Internet in 2008 than it did in 2007. Marketers will have to adapt and use social media to their advantage. This is a potentially fantastic session that will tie together social media and affiliate marketing in a unique way.

This looks to be a great conference. If you plan on going, let me know by leaving a comment or by contacting me directly. If you’re missing out this time, feel free to relay to me any questions you’d like me to ask some of the speakers. I’ll be compiling a complete list in the near future.

  2. That’s fantastic Gyutae. I’m thrilled for you. Just from some of the names you mentioned I know this is going to keep a killer event.

    Keep up the good work.

    Unfortunately, I’m not going since I’m just a student. My priorities will not allow me to go to a very cool convention like the Affiliate Summit. Just a few more years and I’ll hopefully meet the great bloggers/marketers/online money-makers in real life!

    Congrats Gyutae. I’d go, but I’m really not into affiliating… maybe I’ll see you at BlogWorld in Vegas though.

    I’m also happy you won this as I don’t want you to feel too bad when you lose our competition…

    Congrats Gyutae, that’s awesome! I wish I could go but the price is a lil steep for me right now (ya know, catchin’ up after Christmas and all). Have a great time!

    @Ask a Blogger
    Thanks. There are definitely some big names on that list. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to meet a good number of them.

    @Sly
    I definitely know how you feel. School is great but sometimes I felt like it kept me away from what I really wanted to do online.

    @Tyler Cruz
    Thanks, Tyler. I think affiliate marketing is a huge aspect of what we do, even as bloggers and online publishers. It’s a mistake saying that you’re “not into affiliating”. I’ll let you know what I learn from the conference though. When is the next BlogWorld Expo? As for the competition, we’ll just wait and see what happens. ;)

    @Epiphany
    Thanks! I probably wouldn’t be going had I not won the contest. But that will change in the future as I meet more people in the industry and develop relationships. Hope to see you next time.

    Personally, this “dinosaur” has far too many responsabilities to be even thinking about attending conferences, at not until my children gradually take over the brick&mortar business I am running.

    Alan Johnson

    Thanks for the mention! You can bet with Chris, Sam, Steph, Deb, and I on stage-well it won’t be boring!

    Steph and I have been chatting about the conference-it’s going to be a blast.

    @Tris,
    Thanks for stopping by. I’m very excited to attend your session and learn from your experiences at b5media. See you there!

    G hope to see u there man, lets share a glass of vino too ;)

    Nice prize, you’ve won there.

    I’m not really into affiliate marketing currently so I don’t really see the point in going, but if I was I would have gone.

    Very nice. I’m still in the learning process of the internet. Once I get to that point, I’d love to attend all the meetings possible.

    I totally missed reading the part where you said you won this! Now that’s what I call a free ticket.

    Hey Gyutae,

    Just found out about you by reading about your competition with Tyler Cruz (I’m a Tyler Cruz regular).

    Good luck to both of you!

    I wish I could join one of these conferences in the future. I’m really just starting with this whole money-by-blogging thing and I need all the ideas and help I can get.

    No need to say thanks Gyutae. Knowing that you probably wouldn’t be going had you not won the contest is already thanks enough.

    Enjoy the show. I hope you enjoy your first conference as much as I had enjoyed mine… albeit that was quite some time ago :)

    Congrats!

    Hm good for you to get more exposed…
    Congrats..

    The line-up looks great Gyutae. Congrats on winnning a free pass to the conference! Enjoy you time there buddy. We’ll be joining you through your live blogging. :D

    You are going there, a good way of promoting your blog. Congratulation and good luck.
