How the Contest Works
Now that you’ve seen all of the prizes, you know that this contest is the real deal. A lot of contests fluff up the prizes with subjective values of services and advertising. This contest is mostly made up of CASH and real products.
So this is how the contest will work.
The winners of all of the individual prizes will be selected by a random draw on April 2 – there will be at least 100+ winners in total (including 20 free t-shirts to the participants with the most entries).
To participate in the contest, all you have to do is perform certain actions that gain you more entries. The more entries you have, the higher your chances of winning a prize.
Below is a step by step guide of how it works.
- Sign up for the free Winning the Web mailing list (required).
This is necessary in order to enter the contest. I will never send spam and will only use the information to generate a contest participation list and to send occasional WTW updates. You may opt out at any time.
- Subscribe to the Winning the Web RSS feed.
Throughout the contest, I will be creating additional posts through the RSS feed that provide instructions on how you can collect more entries for the contest. These actions are optional and may include commenting on different blogs, checking out related sites of interest, or signing up with a sponsor. None of this will cost you a dime but it’s important to keep up to date. Subscribe to the RSS feed now. - Collect Entries
You can increase your chances of winning all of the prizes by collecting additional entries for the contest. Joining the mailing list will gain you 1 entry, blogging about the contest will gain you 10 entries, and every 5 comments on Winning the Web will gain you 1 entry. As I mentioned, I will also be releasing random posts throughout the contest that will contain instructions for you to gain even more entries. - Random draw for all prizes on April 2.
A random draw will be held for all prizes on Wednesday, April 2. The chance of you winning depends on the number of entries you acquire as well as the number of entries held by all of the participants. You can win more than one prize as long as you are eligible. (In order to win any of the cash prizes, you must sign up with Azoogle Ads, PepperJam Network, NeverblueAds, and BidVertiser.)
How to Gain Entries
- Sign up for the mailing list (required) – 1 entry
- Blog about this contest and link to this post – 10 entries
- Every 5 comments on WTW (now until April 2 with 5 comments per day limit) – 1 entry
- Subscribe to the feed and stay tuned for more opportunities to gain entries
Be sure to use the same email & website when performing actions for the contest. That way I’ll be able to easily track entries for each person.

He always has such innovative contest ideas and great prizes. I’m in on this one!
Umm yeah, what he said. Only a dedicated FT IM’er could pull together this many resources and go buck-wild … nice job!
“Always”, I think this is the second time he is holding such crazy contest. First one I remember was with Tyler Cruz!
Hi’
My site launched a contest too as craziest as this one. Check it out guys.
Wow, crazy contest here! I’m very impressed with how fast your site has grown in such a short amount of time. I’ve subscribed to your newsletter 😉
hey jon, glad to see you’re a part of this contest! 🙂
gyutae, i agree with jon – congrats on all your successes and good luck with your contest
Holy crap that’s a ton of prizes…
Nice man, your contests just keep getting better and better!
Great prizes, but simply too complicated to sign up and keep following instructions etc.
Hey Gyutae I’m already subscribed to your feed via mail. Good prizes btw
Just wanted to clarify that the mailing list form to sign-up for is not the same as the RSS email form.
This one is a new list that he’s using aweber for.
Holy Cow! Now that’s a contest! I’m looking forward to participating and WINNING;)
I’m already a subscriber, I just signed up for the newsletter, and I’ll blog about it this week. I think I already got additional entries from the rss feed note:)
GOOD LUCK to everyone.
Nice contest Gyutae. I’m already signed up for 3 of the 4 affiliate networks you mentioned and I’ll sign up for your mailing list and start commenting more. Any of the cash prizes would be cool.
Killin’ it man. ;o)
Good luck everyone!
Pretty nice contest, good luck to everyone.
Wow. Wowowee. the prizes are so interesting. Will blog about this later.
Good luck to us and to you Gyutae.
Aint it funny how people don’t want to work a bit to enter a contest! Your instructions are very easy to follow, like mine over at Feed Flare with my contest this month.
nice job and I will be fully entering this week.
Gyutae, this is definitely the craziest internet marketing contest EVER. Trying to out-do The University Kid or what? Awesome man, I will definitely be participating. I will be very surprised if you don’t clear that 500 subscriber mark by the end of the week! Keep up the great work.
Here’s my entry.
Sweet! 🙂
Azoogle are reputable? Is that why I got paid months late [their mistake and I had to get on them for payment]? Why they couldn’t set up my tracking code? Why I generally had a crap experience there? Money can buy you links, but not your reputation.
lol, ouch. I haven’t had any issues with Azoogle but I guess it’s definitely possible. What’s your favorite network, Gab?
Very nice contest Park
I have join the list and i will surely blog about it
ty
Awesome work putting all that together Gyutae! (as assumed lol). You know, you should consider starting another blog that is geared toward building hype, viral promotion and setting up contest along with how to track the results and promote and such. I am sure there are plenty of people who would want to read your tips and such and it would just help you build another great brand for yourself ;).
Anyway, I’m definitely down for this. I call the David Bain course if I get lucky enough to win lol…though the cash could be nice.
I’d say good luck on another successful promotion but I already know you don’t need luck, you got the goods 😉
Hey Ron,
Thanks for the tip. I was actually thinking of launching something like that. Hopefully soon.

The contest keeps getting better and better. It would be great to hear about some stats as to how much coverage it’s getting.
Joined the mailing list.
cool..i am in…
how exactly are you keeping track of the comments people post?
I’m using a plugin that exports comments to CSV (from Joost de Valk). From there it’ll be pretty easy to count the number of comments left by each user using Excel.
Nice promotion , great contest!
Good luck to all 🙂
You’re crasy! But I like it!

Wow, this is a great contest with amazing prizes!
I have posted a page in my blog page and now is waiting for the trackback.
I have 3 questions:
1 Where is the trackback link in your page?
2 Your site seems very slow to access here in China.
3 I can’t access your blog post directly via this domain http://feeds.winningtheweb.com/~r/WinningTheWeb in China, could you please check your Feedburner?
By the way, my blog entry is here:
http://woochiong.72pines.com/2008/03/11/craziest-internet-marketing-co ntest-i-have-ever-seen/
Trackbacks are at the bottom of the page. Under comments.
Hm, it’s loading fine for me in the States.
Try this link instead: http://feeds.winningtheweb.com/WinningTheWeb
Does anyone know where to find the trackback URL (or URI)?
I do not use wordpress, so i need the trackback URL to enter into my haloscan account.
I can’t understand why it would be hidden on a post that is looking for hundreds of trackbacks.
The main URL
http://www.winningtheweb.com/craziest-internet-marketing-contest-centu ry.php
doesn’t work.
Where am I supposed to send the ping?
I’m in! I hope to win a prize 🙂
Wow.. I also going to win . . .

Yo G,
You’ve been twittered, sphinned, stumbled, emailed and RSS’d.

That’s one contest you have here! I wouldn’t know what to do if I won this competition.
To be honest though, I’m only really in for a new blog design! 😛 The one on my current blog needs revamped.
(You’ll notice this email address from signing up)
Thanks
Great idea, Gyutae! Glad to be participating as a prize sponsor. 🙂
Great contest!:) thank you uberaffiliate to link to it.
You have definitely made my social calendar full to the brim. When do I sleep? Oh, I guess I don’t if I want to win the prizes! I have signed up for newsletter, RSS and then stumbled, sphinned and twittered you. In other words, in order to become your friend, I have had to resort to following and stalking; to say nothing of the things I have had to sign up for. Is this fun or what!
(As I have stated before, I have already put out my intention to be the winner of the free conference pass to Affiliate Summit East.)

http://imbadev.com/insane-internet-marketing-contest/
Cheers
Insane is really the word!
Well it seems the contest does have what any good contest should have. It’s very similar to Carl Ocab’s $8,900 contest, which recently ended a few days ago, but he’s yet to drawn a winner. Hmm?
Still no winner?
The social bookmarking is a bit tedious but it’s forcing me to stop procrastinating so I really start using more than just Digg and StumbleUpon. At least when this has ended, I’ll be a member of every network known to man!
I don’t see my trackback below (the post was on the 10th), so I wanted to make sure you got this entry…
http://365tofreedom.com/the-only-contest-ive-ever-bothered-to-enter/

Gyutae,
One more thing if we wanted to be a part of sponsoring this contest, is there anything you would like in particular?
Do you just want more cash prizes? Or perhaps more along the lines of other products and services?
Warm regards,
You should make a graph that shows how the prize value has grown. That would be cool to see.
