Optimal SEO Wordpress Permalink Structure for Your Blog
December 27, 2007 - Written by Gyutae Park
If you’re creating a new blog using the Wordpress platform, it’s important to establish a permalink structure that is optimal for search engines and for users. So what is the optimal structure? There are many different views on this topic, but from my experience and SEO knowledge, using /%postname%.html is best. Below are some of the key reasons why you should be using this structure.
- Avoid using dates in your URLs
Many Wordpress blogs default to a structure which includes dates in subfolders. This ties your post to a specific point in time and limits your ability to update old posts. Also, the added subfolders may result in search engines placing less weight on your post and thus reducing the crawl rate.

Tell Your Blogging Story as a Key Selling Point
December 18, 2007 - Written by Gyutae Park
Everyone has a unique personal story that includes life experiences they’ve been through, problems that they’ve dealt with, and people that they’ve learned from. It’s no different in the blogging world, yet many bloggers are stoic, lifeless, and flat out boring. I’m surprised personal stories aren’t used more often as a key selling point for bloggers to differentiate themselves from the crowd.
Do you have a blogger story?
Many of the best known bloggers have reached the top by sharing their personalities and personal lives. You may feel uncomfortable revealing your inner thoughts and experiences to a sea of strangers around the world, but if you have an interesting story, you will get noticed.

Get Off the Blogging Bandwagon & Set Yourself Apart
December 13, 2007 - Written by Gyutae Park
It is natural for bloggers to follow and be attracted to success. We are drawn to powerful people who have lots of experience, knowledge, and credentials. For example, who’s your favorite basketball player? Michael Jordan or Donny Dweeb? I think the answer is clear.
Following success is fine but if you’re out trying to make a name for yourself, you can’t just be a fan and a follower for life. This is especially true in the blogging world. I see so many people worshiping the top Internet marketing bloggers like Darren Rowse, John Chow, and Shoemoney. These guys are very successful, but they’re just regular people who have worked hard to get to where they are today. You can emulate them and put them on a pedestal all you want but that doesn’t mean you can actually be them and reach the same level of success.

Guest Blogging Progress - Just the Beginning
December 5, 2007 - Written by Gyutae Park
Back in October, I wrote about the benefits of guest blogging. If you haven’t already sought out other bloggers in your niche to network with and provide content for, you are missing out on a lot of great opportunities to promote your own blog. Just to show you how I myself have been taking advantage of this marketing tactic for Winning the Web, I wanted to list some of the most recent guest posts I’ve done for Internet marketing related topics. So far I’ve only written for Shoemoney and Tyler Cruz, but I hope to increase that list in the very near future. Stay tuned.

I keep coming back to the idea that image is everything in the online world and I’m going to revisit this concept again in today’s post - how to pump up your blog comments. If you have a relatively new blog, your main objective is to attract new readers and gain a steady stream of subscribers and visitors. How do you combat this? One way is to pump up your blog comments. New visitors on your site will see the large blog comment counts and be encouraged to join in on the discussion themselves. Tips on Avoiding Blogging Bad Blood
November 19, 2007 - Written by Gyutae Park
Blogging is all about building relationships, connecting with others, and sharing ideas. Throughout this whole process, however, it’s not uncommon for bloggers to stubbornly disagree, insult others, and create a blogging catastrophe with tempers flared and feelings hurt.
Take Matt Cutts for example – the head of the Google Spam team. Last week he threatened to lash out on Aaron Wall, a prominent SEO who has recently been expressing and spreading his anti-Google sentiment. Matt took a poll of his readers’ opinions on whether or not he should publicly feud with Aaron and what he’s been doing. Things even got personal as Matt stated that he “did some extra work to help Aaron last year.”

A Tool to Manage Your Blog Comments
November 14, 2007 - Written by Gyutae Park
Commenting on other blogs is a great marketing strategy to increase exposure for your own blog and to build relationships. That being said, it is still extremely difficult to keep tabs on which blog posts I have commented on and who has replied. Discussions are fragmented and hard to follow and with lots of commenting, things can get pretty hectic fast. There’s always the option of subscribing to the comments through email, but who wants their inbox flooded every time someone posts a message.

Your Fellow Blogger IS a Competitor
November 5, 2007 - Written by Gyutae Park
Who are your competitors? Maki from the popular blog Dosh Dosh recently made a post stating that your fellow blogger is not a competitor and that the Internet is big enough for everyone. However, I think that this is naive thinking that should be reassessed with a more realistic point of view. Sure it would be great if all bloggers could be friends and make millions of dollars together. However, it just doesn’t work that way and there simply isn’t enough “pie” to go around to every blogger.
