Motive Interactive Advent 2.0 Review – Just a Great Interface?
October 14, 2008 - Written by Gyutae Park
With new affiliate networks popping up left and right, there is fierce competition in the affiliate industry for networks to sign lucrative deals with advertisers and to attract the most experienced affiliate marketers. In fact, unless an affiliate network has a unique selling proposition, it will likely fail and be forgotten about.
The top CPA (cost-per-action) performance marketing networks are successful for a reason. For example, Market Leverage used extremely creative marketing tactics to connect with affiliates and bloggers, Pepperjam Network leveraged its already popular brand to launch a reputable affiliate network, and AzoogleAds established itself through first-mover advantage (i.e. they were one of the first in the industry). As you can see, an affiliate network needs to be different with unique features in order to rise up from the rest of the crowd.

Tyler Cruz Humiliation Video
September 15, 2008 - Written by Gyutae Park
Here’s Tyler’s humiliation video after losing to me in the affiliate marketing showdown. I probably could have done a lot better with the script, but we don’t want to embarrass Tyler too much now do we. Paul Piotrowski of Inspired Affiliate recommended the following:
“Hi, my name is Tyler Cruz, and I’ve got a video confession to make today. I’ve been running Tyler Cruz.com for a long time, but today I want to come clean and admit that all of my income has been coming in from prostituting myself and not from blogging. My pimp’s name is Gyutae…”

Gyutae Wins Again – Tyler Cruz Prepares For Humiliation After Affiliate Marketing Showdown
September 14, 2008 - Written by Gyutae Park
Well, it’s official folks. After edging out Tyler Cruz as the underdog in our previous blog competition, I managed to do it yet again in the most recent affiliate marketing showdown. For those of you that haven’t been following the event, Tyler and I started a little contest to see who could make the most money doing PPC affiliate marketing in a month. We’re both fairly inexperienced in this area and the purpose of the challenge was to motivate us to increase affiliate income. We started off very slowly, but in the end I managed to get lucky and make my campaigns profitable in the final week. It’s not much, but it’s still a good start and enough to beat out Tyler (who happens to be in the red).

Week 3 of the Affiliate Marketing Showdown – Final Stretch
September 9, 2008 - Written by Gyutae Park
With the end date of the affiliate marketing showdown with Tyler Cruz coming in just 3 days, I finally had the chance to work on my campaigns and “get things right”. In my previous update, I mentioned that my affiliate landing pages were slapped in Google and were not generating any impressions. I worked exclusively with Facebook for a while, but that traffic source is quickly drying up – probably because of a relatively low click through rate and the way the ad system is structured.

Huge Affiliate Marketing Challenge By Tyler Cruz & Market Leverage
September 5, 2008 - Written by Gyutae Park
It looks like our friend Tyler Cruz has his hands full this month. Not only is he competing in our Affiliate Marketing Showdown (which concludes next week), but he is now running another one of his popular Market Leverage challenges where you can get involved with affiliate marketing and earn some killer prizes.
Market Leverage is a fantastic up and coming affiliate network that has used some creative marketing techniques in the past. Remember all the Winning the Web t-shirts that they bought up? That got them some great exposure I’m sure. Now Tyler and the folks at Market Leverage have partnered up to run a contest with over $10,000 in prizes. Wowzers.

Week 2 of the Affiliate Marketing Showdown – Who’s Winning?
September 2, 2008 - Written by Gyutae Park
First of all, I’d like to apologize for the recent lack of posts. I’ve been extremely busy with SEO client work and managing some of my other projects. I’ve also been working through Yaro Starak’s Blog Mastermind course and it has gotten me rethinking my blog strategy and business. Look forward to my review on that soon.
As for my affiliate marketing showdown with Tyler Cruz, the half way point has already come and gone and unfortunately not too much has changed in the past week. I’m up $5.99 (which puts me ahead of Tyler – check Tyler’s latest stats), but I’ve only spent a total of around $100 – which is horrible considering my budget coming into this competition was in the 4 figures.

Week 1 of the Affiliate Marketing Showdown Versus Tyler Cruz
August 22, 2008 - Written by Gyutae Park
Alright so it’s been over a week since Tyler Cruz and I started our affiliate marketing showdown, but honestly little has happened since then. The whole point of the competition was to motivate both of us to work on our campaigns and to improve on our PPC affiliate marketing skills. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened yet.
I’m not going to sit here and complain. I’ve been extremely busy with SEO client work and some of the other projects on my plate, but a competition is a competition and I’m not going go down without putting up a fight.

Affiliate Marketing Showdown – Tyler Cruz vs. Gyutae Park (Again)
August 13, 2008 - Written by Gyutae Park
Remember that guy named Tyler Cruz? If you recall, I edged him out 55-52 in a previous competition where we had bloggers vote for either of us by writing a post. It was a lot of fun and I think everyone involved benefited. However, it looks like Tyler is finally out for revenge – this time in an area where neither of us are really proven or experienced: PPC affiliate marketing.
This is an area of Internet marketing that I’d really like to become better at and I think a little friendly competition will help to motivate me and finally get the ball rolling.

The Ultimate Guide to Creating a Successful Affiliate Marketing Reality Show
July 21, 2008 - Written by Gyutae Park
Love it or hate it, the Top Affiliate Challenge was the first affiliate marketing reality show to successfully air online in real time. The show undoubtedly had some major flaws and made newbie mistakes, but all in all, I think it’s a good start to developing an idea that can potentially be very successful. Props to Thor Schrock for that.

10 Ways to Select a Profitable Affiliate Offer
June 11, 2008 - Written by Gyutae Park
PPC affiliate marketing is something that’s been high up on my to do list for a long time now. Aside from dealing with all of the SEO client work, blogging, and managing my web properties, I’d like to start up some more profitable affiliate campaigns that generate large flows of passive income.
Super affiliates like Paul Borque, Jonathan Volk, and Amit Mehta all make it look easy but you’d be a fool if you actually thought it was. Each of these super affiliates has invested thousands of dollars and countless hours into testing, tweaking, and optimizing campaigns.
