Blog Themes Club – Win a Free 1 Month Membership for Premium Themes

June 15, 2009 - Written by Gyutae Park

I don’t know about you, but I’m a huge fan of WordPress (version 2.8 just came out, by the way) – a blogging content management system that’s extremely simple and flexible, yet very powerful. In fact, I use it here on Winning the Web and on most of my other content sites. One of the biggest benefits of WordPress is that it offers a theme system that allows you to change the look and and feel of your site with a single click. How awesome is that?

This feature has created a huge aftermarket of countless WordPress blog themes. There’s something out there for everyone. I use Brian Gardner’s StudioPress themes but another popular one is the Thesis Theme by Chris Pearson.

In order to capitalize on this growing market, Kevin Muldoon of Blogging Tips and PHP developer Sarah Gay have teamed up to launch Blog Themes Club, a membership site that “offers bloggers premium themes at an affordable price and gives fantastic support for members who do not have much knowledge of HTML, PHP or CSS.”

How does Blog Themes Club Work?

blogthemesclubBlog Themes Club is basically a site selling premium WordPress themes. You can either buy an individual theme (starting at $19) or you can subscribe as a member and get unlimited access to all of the themes on the site. Membership options include $29 for 3 months, $49 for 6 months, and $69 for 12 months – promotional prices that will increase after July 31. There are currently 4 themes available, shown below. One of them is the exact same theme Kevin Muldoon uses on his popular Blogging Tips site.

All you need to do is leave a comment below with your thoughts on the themes. On Thursday, June 18th, I’ll select 3 winners for the free memberships. Good luck!

Really love the themes, but blogthemesclub.com has some pretty major broken URLs and bugs. I tried to submit a report to them through their contact form but the submit button directed me to a 404.

Would have really loved to be able to help them out by giving them a heads up about the bugs, but I’ve already wasted too much time on it…

Thanks for letting me know about the bug via email. I wouldn’t say the site has major bugs or broken urls though.

The link to the anima demo had a / in the url by mistake. Something which probably happened the other day when we moved the site from our test area to the main site (these things happen).

We switched to a different contact form a few days ago. Unfortunately, we didn’t realise that the template redirected the user to a thank you page after submission.

It’s our own fault for not testing the contact form thoroughly however we didn’t spent too much time with the contact form as we are currently installing a helpdesk for users. The contact form was just a temporary fix until our helpdesk is set up the way we want it.

Other that that there is not major bugs that I can think of. There are a few things we are working on but those are all backend stuff that users won’t see anyways. The themes themselves have all been updated to wp 2.7 and will be upgraded to the newly released 2.8 within a few weeks (i.e. with the new classes etc).

Thanks for getting back to me Kevin.

You’re right there aren’t really any major bugs. I just had the unfortunate luck of using the two features that gave me 404s. Got a little frustrated when I tried twice to let you guys know and didn’t think that my report got through.

Definitely impressed with your themes! I especially like Anima. Hope to get a chance to use it 🙂

If you’re not into writing about stuff like that you could always just blog about your day-to-day. Or even just the random observations you make about like. Don’t try to force funny either because it very rarely works.

A professional blog theme is well optimized for search engines and will draw traffic to your site like anything. And it will give 500 per cent return on your sites.

All I can say about the themes is that they are nice and clean, easy on the eye, there arent 1 million things going on. The one I like the most is the Kronos theme.

Agent 001 on June 17th, 2009

I like the Kronos Theme. It has something of my taste. There are currently 4 themes. I hope they make some more and unique one soon.

I think WP is overdoing it with all the “features” because it is VERY VERY slow on my old computer 🙁

Also, I think you have to fix the “Tabbing” issue. When I type in my name and press tab, it goes to the top..

No doubt using premium themes give professional weight to your blog. But however I must say that there is nothing special in these themes.

If there is something special than please let us know as I am planning to have one for my service blog.

So they are offering one month free subscription. That one is really cool one. But I think they should add more attractive theme to get a proper and boost start.

What do you think ?

Kahoong Lee on June 21st, 2009

I like the Invictus themes, looks cool and professional! I know that Kevin is using this theme for his blog, I do like to switch to this theme if I win the 1month membership! Anyway, $19 for a theme is really cheap and affordable, definitely will grab a theme from there in coming days! 😀

Regards,
Lee
