Is Your Site Worthy of Black Friday-like Crowds?

bfriday.jpgFirst of all, I’d like to wish everyone a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving holiday. I hope you all had a great time celebrating and giving thanks - maybe even stuffing yourself with a huge dinner of turkey, corn, and mashed potatoes. I know I did. Anyway, I think it’s quite ironic that the day after giving thanks for what we have, we go out shopping for deals trying to horde new things that we don’t have. To me, Black Friday is an oxymoron and a contradiction to the Thanksgiving spirit. If we’re really thankful and content, why do we need more? But hey, that’s America for you and as an Internet entrepreneur and publisher there are many ways to profit from it. Is your site worthy of Black Friday-like crowds? Some people wait up to 12 hours in the blistering cold so they can give their money away to retailers for hot deals. In this post, we’ll go into how you can replicate this model for your own site and have customers begging to do business with you.

Offer something of high value

First of all, you’ll need to offer something of high value to your customers. Whether it be a hot product, a quality service, or valuable content, your offering must be something that is high in demand with a high valuation in the eyes of potential customers. No one is going to pay attention to something that is not worth their time and money. Examples of hot items and services include Iphones, the newest laptop computers, new release DVDs, website reviews, high quality links, and how-to ebooks.

Create hype

Now that you have your quality product, you’ll need to market it in a way that shows its high value and usefulness. Not only that but you’ll need word-of-mouth marketing on your side to hopefully tip your product to becoming something viral that everyone is talking about. Your marketing plan is just the initial light of a match. If you want to create something that spreads like wildfire, you’ll need the help of a lot of influential people.

Offer a hot promotion

If you want Black Friday-like lines and crowds rushing to your website to buy your products, a limited-time and limited-supply promotion is a great way of accomplishing this. Assuming that you have a great product and have created enough hype that people know what you offer, a promotion will give customers a sense of urgency that will push them to extremes to get what they want. This is exactly how retailers operate on Black Friday. They draw people in with hot doorbuster deals and hope customers purchase more in the name of the holiday spirit. It actually works quite well.

Skip your way to the bank

Come Christmas time, you’ll be skipping your way to the bank. November and December are great times for any online business so make sure your sites are worthy of Black Friday-like crowds before the big rush. Are you ready?

Are you talking about people with original products or affiliate marketers? In theory, this is easier for the product creators, IMHO.

I’m not ready for the crowds yet. I’m on free hosting for most of my sites and I’ll probably experience a lot of downtime.
