Back From Vacation

October 13, 2008 - Written by Gyutae Park

gyutae vacationHey all, you may have noticed that I was gone on vacation last week. I scheduled a few posts to publish while I was gone, but haven’t had a chance to reply to email or comments as of yet. If you tried to get in touch, you should be hearing from me soon.

My cruise to the Caribbean with my family was fun and relaxing. It was a great chance for me to get away (without Internet access – which is definitely hard to do) and recharge in amazing sunny weather before the subarctic cold of Chicago starts to kick in. I had the opportunity to discover some of the amazing islands of the Bahamas as well as Key West, Florida. The endless buffets of great food didn’t hurt – expect my love handles. :(

If you’re looking to take a short vacation, I’d recommend a cruise. It’s pretty easy and requires minimal planning. The service is great and you pretty much get a taste of a lot of different exotic destinations. You should look into it especially if you’re a culprit of the 16 signs you know you need a vacation from your blog. There’s even something called a Marketing Cruise, which ironically I heard about while I was on the cruise, if you’d rather mix business with pleasure.

Here are a few pics from my trip. Enjoy! It’s back to work for me… :)

Welcome back. I think this time of year is definitely a good one before the cold winter sets in. Mind you I swear I suffer from SADs. Always tired come Autumn (Fall to you Americans) ;)

Gyutae Park on October 13th, 2008

Thanks Alan! They actually say it’s rainy season in the Caribbean now, but I didn’t see a drop of rain while I was there. What is SADs? (Is that another British thing? :P )

Ha I’m not sure it’s just a British thing. There’s a full wikipedia page and everything :)

Welcome back to the web Gyutae! A cruise around Caribbean, you lucky man, from here in the UK a cruise around the Canary Islands is the closest to that! Nice pictures, I have always fancied staying at the Atlantis resort in Bahamas it looks amazing. I visited Key West and Miami in Florida quite a few years back and that was amazing. :)
P.S. The error when posting comments is still happening to me, but after seeing the error page the comment is being published so no worries I guess. Thank’s for replying to my email. :)

Thanks Stuart, I think I was going through Internet withdrawal while I was there. Goes to show how much we rely on it to stay “connected”. I’ve never been to the UK, but it’s definitely on my list of places to visit. I’ve even been practicing my British accent.. :P

Atlantis resort in the Bahamas is pretty amazing. One of the suites Michael Jackson used to stay at costs $25,000 per night. Crazy…

Thanks for letting me know about the comment issue. I’m going to look into it and fix the problem.

Awesome pics! So are you living in Chicago now and not New York? Never been on a cruise before.

Gyutae Park on October 13th, 2008

Thanks! Yep, moved back to Chicago from NY a couple months ago. Are you still in Evanston?

wisdom on October 14th, 2008

Yep still in Evanston finishing up the last year. Thankfully weather has been nice so far.

Gyutae Park on October 14th, 2008

Yep, it’s been nice so far but just wait until December when you can’t go outside without having your nostrils freeze shut. Oh the joy of Chicago winters..

Amazing snaps. Sounds like you had a great break.

Gyutae Park on October 14th, 2008

Thanks, the pictures came out a lot better than I thought – colorful and vibrant. You should see it in person, it’s that much better.

What a stud…

Was the food as good as I hear it is on cruises?

Tyler Cruise, I mean… Cruz :)

Gyutae Park on October 14th, 2008

Hahah, what a funny man, Mr Cruise.

The food was absolutely amazing. Everything is free and unlimited – from breakfast omelettes to shrimp, prime rib, top sirloin, filet mignon, pizza, burgers, and on and on and on. The food is endless and delicious. I would go again just for the food and impeccable service.

I suggest you take the lady out for a nice cruise in the Caribbean. :)

A cruise sounds good but I’m not too sure how I will handle the sea sickness aspect of it. I know there are pills and such you can take, but with my luck they won’t work.

Gyutae Park on October 14th, 2008

You know what, the rocking of the boat wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. In fact, most of the time I didn’t even know whether we were moving or docked on shore. There’s a bunch of medications you can take to prevent sea sickness and even some tabs you can stick behind your ears that will supposedly help as well. Try it out!

That may be so, but you are talking to a guy who gets car sick in the back seat. I remember a time I took a plane trip and had to use a spew bag because the woman next to me wouldn’t stop talking and I couldn’t concentrate on not being sick.

Funny thing is that I love my water bed. :D

Oh man, that’s rough… Next time you’re on a cruise at least you can close your eyes and pretend you’re on a water bed (technically, that’s what it is, no?).

Not really as it stops moving when you do, and when there is activity happening, if you get my drift, my mind is elsewhere.

Its always good to go on vacation. Its even better if you can share your vacation with readers. Shows how feasible it is to make money online! Thanks dude..

A cruise, eh? That sounds like fun! :)

I’ve never personally went on a cruise, but I will definitely think of it in the future (when I’m older) :P
