Nice article Gyutae. Knowing when to advertise is as important as knowing what to advertise. In addition to guest blogging, "where" to advertise is very important. Don't go advertising your blog on completely irrelevant blogs just because it saves you a few bucks. If you do that, you won't get nearly as much bang for your money.

I've been looking at a variety of sites to advertise on. John Chow seems to be the best bet. Even though he is more expensive, if you compare the amount of visitors and subscribers to other sites..you're getting your money worth. I'm trying to contact him directly to avoid the ReviewMe fees. No reply yet though. His blog seems to be the best bet in trying to make sure the blogging community is aware you're there. After that, I'll be targeting my own niche.

You're right though, it's best to advertise all at once. Get that exposure and hype going, while also creating an active readership who will keep discussions lively when commenting.

You really have your points there. Until svensworld.de grows bigger I do not even think about advertising it for money, the idea behind a blog is to push it by yourself and there are plenty of ways to do so.
Your contests and free reviews are a great way. Combined with the great offerings you give, reviewme for free at chow and cow, but linkback at zillions of blogs, this probably pays off very fast, the only questions is, can you keep up with the readers and keep on producing quality content, or do you have that content before you lit the fuze? It's not only the timing to pick the right spots at the same time, it's rather to pick the right spot to start off.

As you wrote in a post before, content is king, but you have no kingdom, ain't it the other way around?
You are the king and the people come to it to see your land (blog / content), if you misgovernment your country with poor content, you will have no peasant / landlords who care about you and who will migrate somewhere else. Then you will end up as a poor king without a land, poor because your fired your resources before you had something to give.

You have to built a good blog first, then you can start your marketing campain.
A lot people will take this post the wrong way and try to start of with a big bang, but they forget there has to be some fireworks at the end of the year, not just a big KABOOOM and everything is blown away.
People like fireworks, they hate explosions.

Good article though, keep it up! :)
