Being my studious self, I once visited a local Barnes & Noble to check up on some of the latest business books. While flipping through Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad, Poor Dad, I came across a small business card wedged between some of the pages in the book. What kind of business card you ask? It was a business card for a local financial services firm in the area. Thinking that this may have been some sort of misplaced bookmark, I went back to the shelves to see if this was actually done intentionally. Lo and behold, in each of Kiyosaki’s popular money books was a business card strategically hidden between the pages.

User generated content is basically anything on your site that enables visitors to publish something publicly. This can come in the form of blog and forum posts, comments, and multimedia uploads.
Why you need user-generated content
Many times you may feel that you want complete control over the content of your site, and in some instances this is totally appropriate. Controversial sales pages come to mind. However, in most cases, user-generated content can be beneficial in a variety of ways. We’ll go into the advantages below:

With user generated content, there is more activity on your site. Frequent updates lead to visitors constantly coming back for more.

Every week I will be choosing a winner from the world of Internet marketing. These winners are people with brilliant ideas or products that have big potential. Are you worthy of being mentioned as Winning the Web’s winner of the week?
This week’s winner is Prija Phaphouampheng of Blogging the Movie. His goal is to travel the world to meet prominent bloggers and to create the first ever professional blogging documentary. It’s a great idea that I think will generate a lot of interest at least in the Internet marketing circle. There are hundreds of bloggers making a good living off of advertising and affiliate income and I think a documentary will help to validate blogging as a profession and to break the stereotype of bloggers being deadbeat losers who can’t get a “real” job.

First of all, I’d like to wish everyone a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving holiday. I hope you all had a great time celebrating and giving thanks – maybe even stuffing yourself with a huge dinner of turkey, corn, and mashed potatoes. I know I did. Anyway, I think it’s quite ironic that the day after giving thanks for what we have, we go out shopping for deals trying to horde new things that we don’t have. To me, Black Friday is an oxymoron and a contradiction to the Thanksgiving spirit. If we’re really thankful and content, why do we need more? But hey, that’s America for you and as an Internet entrepreneur and publisher there are many ways to profit from it. Is your site worthy of Black Friday-like crowds? Some people wait up to 12 hours in the blistering cold so they can give their money away to retailers for hot deals.
